CAMP REPORT

-

Camp confidential: RB David Johnson said he’s letting his agents deal with the Cardinals regarding a new contract and although there have been reports that no significant movement is being made, Johnson also said both sides are talking. “They said they’re going to continue to talk and hopefully, we get a deal done soon,” he said after Monday’s practice. … The team held its final open practice in front of the public Monday at University of Phoenix Stadium and will break camp after two more workouts on Tuesday and Wednesday. QB Sam Bradford did not participate in Monday’s workout, apparently getting his weekly veterans’ day off from coach Steve Wilks. … Wilks said Bradford will get more playing time during the Cardinals’ second preseason game this Friday night at New Orleans, but he declined to say how many snaps or series that would be. He also said rookie QB Josh Rosen will get some action with the firstteam offense vs. the Saints. Rosen worked with both the first- and second-team offenses on Monday . ... LB Gerald Hodges practiced with the team Monday after officially signing a one-year deal. He was brought in after the Cardinals lost LB Jeremy Cash to a torn ACL. Injury report: Not practicing Wednesday were LBs Deone Bucannon (knee) and Josh Byes (neck). S A.J. Howard and DE/LB Edmond Robinson were at practice but did not participate in team drills. TE Jermaine Gresham (Achilles) and DE Markus Golden (knee) remain on the physically unable to perform list. Quote: “He looks like the old Iupati, the way he’s playing right now. And he’s been that way since the spring.” – Coach Steve Wilks on left guard Mike Iupati, who spent most of last season on injured reserve. Up next: The team will practice outside Tuesday morning from 8-10:40 a.m. on the fields just south of University of Phoenix Stadium. The practice is closed to the public. The team will break camp after Wednesday’s practice, which is also closed to the public. – Bob McManaman
