ABC Nissan dealership settles fraud case

- Rebekah L. Sanders

If you bought a car from ABC Nissan in the last several years, you could be entitled to money from a consumer fraud settlement, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced.

ABC Nissan agreed to pay $130,000 in June to former customers to resolve complaints about false advertising and filing misleading information on loan applications, the attorney general said.

The attorney general lawsuit said the auto dealer advertised vehicles on the Internet at prices that included all possible rebates and excluded mandatory dealer add-ons that had already been applied to the vehicles.

The lawsuit also alleged that ABC Nissan misrepresented some consumers’ financial information on loan applications in order to obtain financing for vehicle purchases.

The auto dealer reformed its practices after becoming aware of the investigation and agreed to settle, the Attorney General’s Office said.

This is at least the third vehicle-related settlement the Attorney General’s Office has brokered.

More than 33,000 Arizona drivers of General Motors vehicles could receive $200 or more each. More than 11,000 Arizona owners of Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche vehicles could collect as much as $1,000 each in another.

People who bought vehicles from ABC Nissan, at 1300 E. Camelback Road in Phoenix, at any time before June 15, 2018, could be eligible for money.
