Media, report the truth to earn back trust
I read with amusement your editorial in support of the Boston Globe-inspired call to condemn Donald Trump’s assault on media.
What a bunch of self-righteous nonsense. If you want to keep or regain the public's trust, then stop with the overthe-top pandering to everything liberal or progressive.
A perfect example is your front page headline "Pro-McSally group spends big in primary."
The correct title should have been "Anti-McSally Democratic groups spend big in primary," for if you read the article it's Democrats (including Chuck Schumer" who have spent over $3 million to defeat McSally by supporting Kelli Ward.
Their goal is simple. They believe Kyrsten Sinema would have a hard time defeating McSally and by touting Kelli Ward, they feel Sinema would have an easier path to the Senate.
Report honestly and stop trying to tip the scales in your reporting to everything liberal, progressive and pro-illegal immigration.
That's how you'll regain the public's trust. Frank Avilla, Buckeye
Are you embarrassed that the Trump economy is soaring?
In response to Cheryl Reed’s Aug. 15 letter on the United States being embarrassed by its president:
Hiring is a crap shoot.
One never knows for sure how an employee will perform. Miss Reed lists Sean Spicer and Michael Flynn as examples.
I don’t recall anything Sean Spicer did wrong. And Lt. Gen. Flynn, despite his service to the United States, was caught up in a political witch hunt.
The letter writer states, “This is just another example of Trump’s incompetence” and “this presidency is simply one embarrassment after another.”
Was she embarrassed when bodies were returned from North Korea, or is she embarrassed that the economy is soaring or that unemployment is the lowest in years or that NATO members are considering paying their fair share?
Or is she embarrassed that prisoners have been released from foreign countries without President Trump trading terrorists in exchange. Jolene Guist, Apache Junction
We’re seeing blatant bias in the news media aimed at Trump
The bias shown by media sources around this country is on display everyday.
The fact that over 90 percent of stories about president Trump are negative is proof of this fact.
The president's support levels show that a large number of people support him, and this is true despite the overwhelming negative coverage.
This same bias can also be seen at azcentral.com in the coverage of our Senate election to replace Jeff Flake.
There are many stories that defend or support Kyrsten Sinema and Martha McSally who support amnesty for DACA people.
But every story about the only true conservative in the race, Kelli Ward, is negative.
This is blatant bias, and it's an organized effort to prevent support of conservative values, and support of President Trump.
The mainstream media is losing the support of the public due to the ongoing bias they display.
The people know they cannot trust these biased sources, and they are tuning out on the media more and more. K. Jones, Chandler
