Our nation and the state of Arizona have lost a truly great American and a fine gentleman of the greatest caliber.

May God bless John McCain, his family and friends. Thank you for your service to our nation, and now go to your reward in heaven that you so richly deserve.

Rest in peace, Sen. McCain.

He made Arizona his home, and we were all the better for it

Thank you Sen. McCain for choosing Arizona as your You have done us a great honor serving our state and our nation.

Fair winds. Fair skies. Farewell. Godspeed.

Above all, Sen. McCain, know that your fellow Americans love you

Thank you Sen. John McCain for your brave service to our country. You are loved.

To sum it up, McCain was an ordinary and honorable man

What I will remember most about John McCain is that he was tortured by his principles. Both sides of his character, the good and bad, emerged during his 2008 presidential bid.

His choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate was one of the most irresponsible political decisions I've witnessed in my lifetime.

Yet there he was, the candidate, standing up for the character of his opponent, Obama, when confronted by constituent woman at a forum.

A man is many things — sometimes a hero, sometimes a villain — McCain was both. He was an ordinary and honorable man who achieved extraordinary power and suffered the consequences of choosing the dirty business of politics as his life work.

Keep America great: Follow McCain’s example of civility

The passing of John McCain, while extremely sad, may have some positive impact on today’s partisan politics.

All of the TV coverage shows what an honorable, ethical and non-partisan leader he was throughout his life. His defense of Obama when a McCain supporter accused Obama of being an Arab is a great example of ethics and honor.

To honor Sen. Mccain's legacy, hopefully we can keep America Great by bringing our country together and focusing on issues that don’t demean our fellow Americans.

Arizona and the United States has lost in McCain a legitimate hero

The sun rises in the beautiful Arizona sky; people go about their business, but all with a heavy heart. For Arizona and America have lost a hero. John McCain, the statesman, has passed on.

Eyes look up at Old Glory flying proudly and we give a silent salute to Sen. John McCain. Thank you, Sir. Well done.

McCain lived his creed and we’ll remember him for years after

John McCain was a maverick and a fighter. He believed that every citizen has a responsibility to make something of the freedoms given by the Constitution, and from his heroic service in the Navy to his decades in Congress.

He lived by his creed every day. He was a skilled, tough politician. He was a true hero. We will remember John McCain always and forever.

John McCain, Rest in peace.
