- Garrett Mitchell CHERYL EVANS/THE REPUBLIC

Visitors to the Arizona Science Center can explore the vacuum of space and the crystalline depths of the ocean for free in early September.

The downtown Phoenix museum is offering free admission from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 8 and 9 in partnership with Fry’s Food Stores. That includes access to all four floors of the museum, which has a planetarium, hands-on demonstrations and plenty to learn about our world and beyond.

Visitors can explore how diseases spread, embrace sensory overload by learning more about the human body and master the forces of nature.

Premium exhibits that have a $5-perperson charge include Dorrance Planetarium shows spotlighting solar super storms, Earth’s climate, a tour of the solar system and even super volcanoes. Or check out films that dive into what lurks in the ocean and adventures in the Amazon.

Kiddos and adults can try laser cutting, woodworking and 3D printing in the Make N’ Take workshop where they can craft an invention with imagination and ingenuity or reach death-defying heights on the Evans Family SkyCycle.

Guests must check in before entering the museum, and crowds are expected. Visitors are encouraged to buy tickets online for premium exhibits and print them before arrival to minimize lines. See all the exhibits and times on the website.

Details: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8 and 9. 600 E. Washington St., Phoenix. 602-716-2000, azscience.org/buy-tickets.
