The Scarlet Pimpernel rides again — in White House

- Not New York Times New York Times fear Suzanne McLeod, Gold Canyon New York Times Lou Parker, Phoenix New York Times Judy Schwiebert, Phoenix Republic’s The Arizona

We may have another case of the Scarlet Pimpernel Society residing in the White House. A group of men and women who are trying to keep catastrophic events from happening in our republic.

“Anonymous” in the is gutless. “Anonymous” must be allowed to continue in secret until the Trump base comes to its senses and votes out this president or the houses of Congress finally decide to take action and impeach this president.

If a man committed fraud, deceived his stockholders, but employed lots of people, would we not indict that man for his crimes?

If a man called people of different ethnicities bad names, but said white supremacists and communists were good and wonderful people, would we nurture a friendship with that man or choose better friends?

How much proof of criminality and instability is enough? Why do we to act? We know that in life there are unintended consequences to our actions. But, if we do the right thing, speak the truth, defend those who have no voice, care about our fellow man with the same compassion as we show ourselves, the consequences of our actions, will have a positive outcome.

Unnamed White House official needs to keep protecting U.S.

Critics of the op-ed by an anonymous senior official in the Trump administration refer to the author as “a gutless coward” and should resign immediately.

Hardly!

Trump claims the article is “treason” and demands that the immediately disclose the author’s name for “national security purposes.”

Why, so he can have him dispatched?

Thank God for the First Amendment. What is a matter of national security is the chaos and dysfunction of the White House and the autocratic actions of the dangerous narcissist in chief who occupies it.

Until the GOP Congress gets off its collective butt and starts performing its Constitutional duties and responsibilities to check the president’s clear abuse of power, it is imperative for the anonymous writer and the group he or she speaks for to stay the course and continue providing us that protection.

If the senior official were to reveal his or her identity and resign, who would provide that protection?

Anonymous senior official should help to get Trump out of office

It feels like a parlor game puzzling out which senior White House official authored the anonymous op-ed, but it doesn’t matter as much as what it actually confirms.

While it’s initially satisfying to have what most of us have long believed confirmed by a senior official in the White House, I agree with the assessment that whoever the writer, he or she is a coward — and an arrogant one as well.

Nobody elected the so-called “resistance” members inside the White House. The op-ed just confirms they are using the president as a distraction to fulfill their own agendas. And while I’m grateful the military is ignoring the president’s orders, it’s pretty terrifying.

Isn’t that what distinguishes unstable dictatorships? I can only hope that karma will indeed come with a vengeance against all those who have put partisan loyalty over the higher loyalty to country.

A patriot in this author’s position, as well as those in Congress who enable this president, would help remove from the most powerful position in the world a president whose behavior up until recently would have been considered dangerous and abhorrent.

Put Montini on the movie beat reviewing low-budget films

Once again, E.J. Montini,

lunatic fringe of columnists, has raised his ignorant head asserting that Sen. Jon Kyl should abstain from voting on Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination. Mr. Montini obviously does not understand Article II of the Constitution and that not voting would violate the oath of office. Montini, the liberal spin doctor, as usual, is out of his depth in discussions of legal matters and should be assigned to review B movies, more appropriate to his intellectual capacity.
