Apple Harvest Celebratio­n

A variety of scrumptiou­s and crisp apples are ripe for the picking at this tasty celebratio­n in Willcox. You can pick your own apples or buy some that have already been picked; while you are there, bring your appetite to the all-youcan-eat pancake breakfast served up with hot apple topping or cider syrup and take a free wagon ride out to the orchards.

Wine in the Woods

Sample offerings from Arizona wineries paired with bites of delicious regional cuisine, all while enjoying the lovely scenery in Flagstaff. Tap your toes to live music and stroll through the arboretum.

Old Dominion Days

Despite what your 10-year-old believes, history can be fun. You can prove it at this festival celebratin­g Globe’s mining past. From an Old West shootout to a fashion show featuring styles of dress not seen since operators were required for phone calls, events transport visitors back a century. Be sure to take a guided tour of the Old Dominion Mine.

Navajo Rug Auction

The annual auction not only offers some of the more affordable prices for rugs and other Native American crafts, but a chance to learn about some of the weavers and the meanings in their designs. A mini-auction kicks off the action the evening before the main event. Dozens of items will be up for sale, and the artists have been known to attend, happy to answer questions.

Vino and Vinyasa

Prescott Highland Games & Faire

Meet people who know how to toss a caber, throw a hammer and dance in a kilt like nobody’s business. The Highland Games celebrate the Celtic way of life with food, competitio­ns and bagpipes. So many bagpipes. Pets are welcome as long as they don’t interfere with herding demonstrat­ions where they’ll see how real dogs get it done.

Born & Brewed Beer Battle

Everyone usually hates how judgmental you get when you drink, but your alcohol-fueled opinions are encouraged during this event. Have a beer and let everyone know exactly what you think (of the beer, not the state of world, to be clear). Several Tucson breweries will be vying for your vote, with the winner getting bragging rights it could (and should) put on a T-shirt.

Kartchner Caverns Photo Tour

Have you ever wanted to photograph the undergroun­d wonders of Kartchner Caverns? You can as part of this monthly tour. It’s limited to 15 participan­ts and the minimum age is 18. Participan­ts

This popular guided hike offers the chance to enjoy the sunset and moonrise from an overlook and return by the light of the moon. A naturalist will offer informatio­n about Sedona, the Verde Valley, archaeolog­y, geology, botany and riparian wildlife. The hike lasts about two hours and covers about 2 miles. Arrive about 30 minutes before the starting time. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring water and a flashlight.
