Time to take new actions on Nike, media, etc.

- Cheryl Reed, Sun Lakes

Recent developments suggest the following actions:

In keeping with its new ad campaign, people should be free to cover the logo on Nike products to protest its slave labor practices and its seeming comparison of Colin Kaepernick’s “sacrifices” to those of our military and law-enforcement personnel.

Given the spate of anonymous sources behind scores of anti-Trump stories since his election, there should be new Pulitzer Prizes for the most frequent use of anonymous sources.

The House and Senate should provide special seating areas for hecklers and protesters. Also, never compare the yelling and screaming of those protesters with the behavior of reporters at the daily White House briefings and other news events.

Media outlets should be barred from using the word “blockbuster” after its frequent blockbuster reports turn out to be duds.

In the true spirit of Democratic Socialism, the top earners in the entertainment industry should be required to share 75 percent of their income with all those who work on their performances.

Word from the White House is ...

I can hear the commands coming from the Oval Office:

“Wipe the dust off the Bibles.” “Bring in the body-language expert.” “Warm up the lie detector machines.” “Get water for the buckets and don’t forget the flat benches.”

We’re going to stop this leaking one way or another.

Models of conduct to learn from

I think I finally understand why we have people like Donald Trump and the late John McCain.

Looking back in history we as Americans will learn a very valuable lesson on how to treat and not treat others, on how to act and not act, on how to tell truth and not tell lies and that making money should not be the ultimate goal in life.

Through the lens of history we will learn moving forward what to be like and most definitely what we hope to never see again. An American president who is incapable of acting decently and putting a mirror up to every one of us. Take a good long look America. We can learn from this. John McCain was not perfect, but he sure was a shining example of what we can be.
