Taste of fall is in the air

- Elizabeth Montgomery

October serves up food and drink events. We have four listings dedicated to beer, one for chocolate lovers, and another featuring mac and cheese.

Code-switching, costumes, white lies, pretending and posing — we’ve all done it.

Tellers will drop the veil on stories they’ve kept under wraps during the Arizona Storytellers October show titled “Undercover.”

Jeremie Bacpac decided to share her story to inspire people to be themselves.

“It starts at the gym every morning, when I see these young girls get on a scale, before and after a workout and then they put on three different labels of clothes; Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Juicy Couture,” she said.

“I want people, especially young women, to know that as long as you honor your own code of truth and values, it’s not just OK to be you, it’s unquestionable.”

Bacpac says she will share details of going to great lengths, false identities and dangerous activities to be what she thought she was supposed to be.

Other tellers include:

❚ Damian Santillan, who went to great lengths to be popular.

❚ Marilee Lash, who tried to be the perfect Catholic child.

❚ Jerod MacDonald-Evoy, who moved from Wyoming to Globe, Arizona, in seventh grade.

❚ Brittany Castro, who shares a story about her grandmother’s advice to wash her face each night to take off the mask.
