PHOENIX – Louis Serra, of Phoenix, 71, passed away on October 22, 2018 after an illness. He was born in New York, NY on June 13, 1947, the son of Anthony and Philomena Rossi Serra. In 1993 he met his future bride Diane Johnson in Augusta, Maine. They married in 1994 and resided in Morris Plains, NJ. They moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1997.

Louis’ career spanned four decades and included employment with the State of NY, EDS and the State of AZ. He was a computer systems implementa­tion manager and a social worker primarily. Louis’ education included the Newburgh Free Academy, the University of Illinois (Chicago) BA and the University of Scranton MS. Louis was a world traveler, and his exploratio­ns included almost all of the U.S., Italy, Canada, England, Scotland, France, Bermuda, China, Australia, Russia, Mexico, parts of Central America, parts of South America, and Antarctica.

Survivors include: wife Diane and mother Philomena of Phoenix, AZ, sister Carmela Polgar and her husband Charles of Newburgh, NY, nephew Charles Polgar, his wife Caroline and daughter Olivia of Houston, TX, brother-in-law Richard Johnson of Clinton, ME and uncle Albert Rossi of Phoenix, AZ. Survivors also include aunts, uncles, nephews, grand nieces and cousins. Mr. Serra was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Serra.

Viewing hours will be Sunday, October 28, 5:007:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 29, 10:00 AM. All at Meldrum Mortuary in Mesa, AZ. Interment will follow immediatel­y at Double Butte Cemetery in Tempe.
