James E. Heintz

-

- – On Thursday, October 25, 2018, James E. Heintz, loving husband, father of three children and grandfather to four, passed away at the age of 72. He was surrounded by family and passed peacefully in his home after a well-fought battle with cancer. Jim was born in Salinas, California on July 24, 1946, the son of Henry and Margaret. He served in the United States Navy for four years, where he studied electrical engineering, preparing him for a long career in the technology industry, including over 30 years at Teradyne working in semiconductor manufacturing. Jim is survived by his wife, Sue. The couple celebrated their 42nd (!) wedding anniversary on October 16. He is also survived by two daughters, Susan Pereira (Robert) and Diane English; a son, Chris Heintz (Leslee); and four grandchildren, Tyler English, Trevor Pereira, Nicole Pereira and Cameron English. Jim was a born engineer who could fix anything—and insisted on it. He loved travel and the outdoors, and was an avid camper and globetrotter who explored the world with his family over the years (his favorite destination was Italy). His family is grateful for the time they spent together, and while the extent of their grief is difficult to convey, it is eclipsed by memories of a lifetime of laughter, joy and love. An open house in celebration of Jim’s life will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 PM on November 10, at his family’s home at 12630 S 40th St. in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, we would encourage donations in his honor to Hospice of the Valley (hov.org/donate), who provided loving care and support for Jim and his family during his final days.
