Two men who died at a Prescott Valley residence last weekend were identified by police Tuesday.

The 19-year-old men were identified as Gunner Bundrick and Jake Morales. The deaths are being investigated as suspicious, Prescott Valley Police Department spokesman Jerry Ferguson said.

Bundrick and Morales were best friends and former football and baseball teammates at Bradshaw Mountain High School.

“The entire town is down about the whole situation,” said David Moran, who coached both players in high school. “They were good to the community with community service.

“They were two very respectful individuals on campus. They did so much for our program. Gunner was the face of our program. They always brought their game on game day.”

On the 2016 football team, when they were seniors, Bundrick, who was 6 feet, 4 inches tall, and weighed 210 pounds, passed for 2,629 yards and 27 touchdowns and ran for 989 yards and 13 touchdowns on an 8-3 team that reached the state playoffs. Bundrick had 4,663 yards and 40 TDs in two varsity seasons.

Morales, who was 6-feet, 205 pounds, had 49 tackles and 10 sacks his senior season. It was his first year playing football.

Prescott Valley officers were dispatched at 11 a.m. Saturday to the 4300 block of Saratoga Drive for a report of two people who were found unresponsive inside a residence at the location, Prescott Valley police said in a statement.

Officers immediately began assisting the men. Central Arizona Fire Medical Authority personnel arrived and pronounced both men dead on scene. Bundrick lived at the residence. Bundrick’s dad, Brian, is the head baseball coach at Bradshaw Mountain. He did not return messages seeking comment.

Moran, now the athletic director at new Canyon View High in the West Valley, said Morales played college football in Missouri last year and had returned home.

He said Bundrick was at Mesa Community College and Yavapai College for baseball, but a month ago he had contacted him about helping him find a place to play college football.

Prescott Valley Police are investigating along with Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking, Yavapai County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office.
