FISHING REPORT
Short cast Several areas at Roosevelt Lake will be closed to fishing or hunting from Nov. 15 to Feb. 15 to protect feeding Canada geese. The off-limits areas will be marked with buoys and are located at the Tonto Creek end of the lake along Goose Flats and near Bumblebee Creek. Central waters Trout
Trout were to be stocked this week in the Lower Salt River and Saguaro Lake,
according to the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Last week trout were planted in Apache and Canyon lakes. Tempe Town Lake will be stocked next week and the Lower Salt will be stocked again the last week of the month. Information: (602) 942-3000. Saguaro
Richard LaPorte of Liar’s Korner in Mesa reports an angler won a tournament last weekend with three bass weighing nearly 10 pounds. He said the winner caught his fish on Ricos, however other participants were successful using jig and wraps and dropshots. Information: (480) 986-2515.
Roosevelt Local guide and crappie expert Curt Rambo says anglers should look for crappie schools in isolated coves containing cover such as brush, submerged trees, rock piles or artificial habitat. Information: (602) 977-7170. Bartlett
The experts say to use dropshot and Texas rigs later in the afternoon when the water has warmed. Try Robo worms on dropshots or Brush Hogs and Yamamoto jigs on Texas rigs. Look for the fish moving from deep water up to 10 feet. One angler said to fish with small

Bass fishing was reported to be good, according to Ted Wong of Phoenix Fishing Supply. Wong said the fish fancied smaller swimbaits and dropshots. Information: (602) 266-2624. Alamo
The lake is low and the main launch ramp is dry, however the Cholla Ramp reportedly has 4 feet of water over asphalt. Crappie fishing is fair to good with anglers averaging 5 to 10 a day on Roadrunners and slow-trolled minnows at 15 feet over 30 feet of water. Also there is a night bite by the dam.
