Actor Muniz’s cat floods his Phoenix brownstone

- Catherine Reagor

Actor Frankie Muniz might want to have someone keep a closer eye on his cats the next time he leaves his Phoenix home for a trip.

Muniz’s 5-month-old kitten, Zzyzx, somehow turned on the faucet in Muniz’s five-story central Phoenix brownstone and flooded the place while Muniz was traveling in France and to New Jersey for a family funeral.

“He absolutely loves water, and every time we turned on the particular sink that ended up destroying our home, he would be right there trying to climb into it or drink it,” Muniz’s girlfriend, Paige Price, said about their kitten.

She said they had someone who was supposed to be checking on the cats, but the pet sitter couldn’t get into the house and then couldn’t reach them overseas.

The 32-year-old actor and “Malcom in the Middle” star sent out some sad tweets last week chronicling his home’s destruction.

“I arrived home from my uncle’s funeral to find 4 of my 5 story brownstone home under 3 feet of water,” Muniz tweeted. “Everything I own, destroyed. Every wall, piece of artwork, personal photos, furniture ... All because my cat accidentally turned on a sink a few days ago while we were gone.”

Muniz, who has bought and sold a few luxury homes in the Valley, paid $1.25 million for a five-story brick condominium with a private elevator on Central Avenue last year, public real estate records show.

“I’m devastated and exhausted from a tough week with the loss of my Uncle Skip, 45 hours of travel to and from France to walk in to find this disaster,” Muniz said in another tweet. “I’ve cried more yesterday and today then my whole life combined. Forgive me for venting ... I just need some support.”

“You wouldn’t believe the destruction,” he said in another tweet.

But there’s a bit of a happy ending. Shortly after finding his home flooded Muniz, who is now hosting “Dancing with the Stars Juniors,” proposed to Price. She accepted.
