Saturday’s game

Texas Southern (3-4) at Arizona State (6-0)

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Wells Fargo Arena. TV/Radio:Pac-12 Arizona/Arizona Sports 98.7

Outlook: Texas Southern is out of the low-profile Southwestern Athletic Conference but has pulled off a couple of major wins, defeating Baylor in the season opener and Pac-12 favorite Oregon earlier this week. It is loaded with players from the major conferences, with two players from LSU — G Jalyn Patterson (15.2 ppg) and F Jeremy Combs (11.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg). Other starters include Trayvon Reed (Auburn) and Devocio Butler (Colorado State). Reed, who had 23 points in the win at Oregon, is 7-2 and should prove a formidable challenge for the Sun Devil big men. It is an experienced starting unit which features four seniors, two of those grad students . . . The Sun Devils just missed cracking the national rankings last week, finishing as the first team in the receiving votes category. ASU has won 19 straight regular season non-conference games dating back to last year, the longest active streak in the country. It has done it despite being slowed by injuries with starters Remy Martin and Rob Edwards, who were both on the shelf for Wednesday’s win over Nebraska-Omaha. True freshman Taeshon Cherry stepped up with a career-high 19 on Wednesday, starting in place of Martin.

Injury report: ASU played without three players on Wednesday — starting shooting guard Rob Edwards (back), starting point guard Remy Martin (high ankle sprain) and reserve forward Mickey Mitchell (foot). All are “day-to-day” according to Hurley. Edwards has not played the last five games.
