Phoenix historic home tours start Feb. 10

Folks often knock Phoenix for not cherishing its history, but there are areas throughout the city that do celebrate the past.

Historic neighborho­ods representi­ng a variety of architectu­ral styles offer tours at this time of year that showcases what makes those places special.

Check out this list, which leads into peak home tour season in spring 2019.

2/10: Willo Historic Home Tour and Street Fair

Willo, Phoenix’s largest historic district, has more than 900 homes. The 31st annual tour will feature beautifull­y restored homes from a variety of styles and eras. The street fair includes a classic-car show, a beer and wine garden, food trucks and local vendors.

Details: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10. Willo Historic District, Third Avenue and Monte Vista Road, Phoenix. $18 in advance, $20 on the day of the event. www.willophx.com.

2/24: Coronado Home & Garden Tour

This is the 31st year for this tour which showcases historical homes in Revival, Norman and bungalow styles in the Coronado Historic District near downtown Phoenix. The event includes a street fair featuring local vendors, food trucks, bicycles and classic cars.

3/24: Encanto/Palmcroft Historic Home Tour and Street Fair

This tour of one of Phoenix’s most famous historic districts takes place every two years. You’ll board a trolley that will shuttle you from home to home while a tour guide tells you about the places you’ll see. At the street fair at 12th Avenue and Holly Street, you’ll enjoy entertainm­ent, food and a variety of local vendors. There will also be a 21-andover raffle.

3/24: Modern Phoenix tour

Modernists will love this tour of Phoenix’s midcentury-modern architectu­re. This park-and-walk tour features the 1950s-era custom homes of Marion Estates and the surroundin­g Camelback Foothills area. The home tour is the featured event of Modern Phoenix Week; activities known as “10 Days of Modness” begin March 15.
