This liberal is all done with political correctness

- Ronald Czajkowski, Mesa Sue Garcia, Catalina Foothills, Tucson Ronald Czajkowski, Mesa Paul Gray, Phoenix

As an avowed liberal for the past 50 years, I can no longer support many of the ridiculous decisions that have occurred in the name of political correctness.

Shame on the Philadelphia Flyers for taking down the Kate Smith statue. Now, Nike has recalled their footwear that featured an early version of the American flag on their footwear. I no longer support Colin Kaepernick!

I’ve never been a big supporter of Gov. Doug Ducey, but he made the right decision. Where can I buy a Betsy Ross flag for this Fourth of July, and can I purchase the Nike 1776 shoes anywhere to proudly wear?

The public needs to step up and abolish dirty money in our system

Dirty-dark money is a major contributor to the continuing threat to our democracy.

Not only does it weaken fair and clean elections, but infiltrates our institutions of learning by secretly funding biased research that supports the policies championed by massively rich corporations and donors.

As citizens we need to ask questions, do our research and be aware that any facts presented can be manipulated to favor the dark money that funds it.

I urge my fellow Arizonans to seek out, sign and support the Stop Political Dirty Money Amendment petition.

This is a nonpartisan effort to secure the people’s right to know.

Democrats need to shape up and realize the goal is beating Trump

There are too many Democrats presently in the 2020 race for the nomination. More than half of them don’t stand

❚ a chance and are doing nothing more than muddying the waters for their own 15 minutes of fame.

Future debates should be limited to those with at least 5% support, then 10%.

Also, stick a fork in Kamala Harris, she’s done!

Her blatant attack on former VicePresident Joe Biden was a poor attempt to sway voters to her failing campaign.

School busing was a bad idea in the 70’s and remains so today.

Move forward, this is 2019, and Biden’s record is well known. I’d vote for a third party if she were the candidate. Defeating Donald Trump is the goal! Fighting among the candidates is the sure way to his election.

The cost of prescription drugs is causing this senior great anxiety

As a retiree who takes regular medication for epilepsy and blood clots, I am beyond frustrated with the cost of prescription drugs under Medicare Part D.

The advanced medications I take work very well, but it seems that almost every time I refill my prescriptions, the cost-sharing amount I’m charged goes up.

I currently pay hundreds of dollars a month out-of-pocket for my medications, and every time I walk into the pharmacy, I am terrified that this is the time I won’t be able to afford to walk out with my medications.

The Medicare program is meant to help seniors like myself afford the drugs we need to live a quality life, which is why I found it alarming when I was told pharmaceutical manufacturers often issue rebates for the drugs I take, but that those rebates are gobbled up by private insurers who offer prescription drug plans under Medicare.

Fortunately, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have taken notice of this atrocity and have proposed a change to Medicare Part D that would see rebates provided by drug-makers passed directly to seniors.

For me, this could mean putting hundreds of dollars a year back in my pocket.

I support this plan.
