FISHING REPORT
North central
Regional fisheries experts report excellent fishing. Lower Lake Mary is said to be good for a variety of fish. Check Upper Mary for walleyes and take a look such lakes as Ashurst, Frances Short Pond, Dogtown and City Reservoir. Information: (928) 774-5045.
Mogollon Rim
Willow Springs, Woods Canyon and Bear Canyon lakes for good trout action. Such creeks as Canchannel yon, Christopher, Haigler and Tonto creeks, as well as the East Verde River have been stocked weekly, however some of the waters are receiving their final fish this week. At Willow Springs Lake one angler reported catching 30 trout in the morning and then also brought in two smallmouth bass and three largemouth bass. He was using inline spinners with half of a worm on the end. He used a leader, swivel and weights between onequarter and threeeighths. Information: (928) 532-2307.
White Mountains
Locals report anglers are doing well on Silver Creek, Show Low Lake, Fool Hollow Lake, the Little Colorado River and Bunch Lake near Greer. One angler reported excellent trout fishing using Rooster Tail and Panther Martin spinners at Nelson Reservoir. Info: (928) 532-2307.
Central waters
Bass have been biting best beginning around 6 p.m. and continuing through the night. Action has been excellent at Bartlett, Pleasant and Roosevelt. Mornings have been very productive at Saguaro and Canyon lakes. Several anglers reported excellent bass fishing at Bartlett when using Robo watermelon-colored curly-tail worms. One angler reported picking up a 4-pound catfish at Bartlett plus an 18-pound flathead catfish and 30plus bluegills. Information: (480) 324-3544.
Southeast
Reports indicate a 9.13pound largemouth bass was recently caught at Kennedy Lake in Tucson. Excellent trout fishing is being reported at Rose Canyon Lake on Mt. Lemmon. Information: (520) 388-4451.
Colorado River
At Lees Ferry fly anglers will find olive buggers and scuds are working well on rainbow and brown trout. Use plenty of split shot. Best time to fish is during mid-morning hours.
