Kanani grunts like a pig, snores like a chainsaw
Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.

Kanani
While every pet is special in their own way and deserving of love, some pets truly have an indescribable way of wiggling deep into everyone’s hearts. This perfectly describes sweet Kanani. Meaning “the beautiful one” in Hawaiian, Kanani is a beautiful girl whose resilient spirit has touched the hearts of many Arizona Humane Society staff and volunteers.
Kanani is 6 years old and is in need of a very special home. While in the care of AHS’ trauma hospital, Kanani was diagnosed with a special type of blood cancer, not uncommon in her breed, which causes masses to grow on her body and eventually need surgical removal. It is unknown how many masses will grow or how quickly, but it is certain that she will need a special care plan as set out by her future forever family and their vet.
Even though Kanani has gone through so much in her life, her quality of life is good and she continues to be a shining light to everyone who has met her. Described as not only a stealer of hearts, but also a stealer of chairs (she loves to cuddle in them), the gorgeous pup is extremely sweet with both her human and canine friends, snores like a chainsaw, grunts like a piggy and has the ability to brighten any room she is in.
