Arizona Federal Credit Union has taken over the name-in-title sponsorship of the Live Nation theater on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Washington Street in downtown Phoenix.

Formerly known as Comerica Theatre (and before that, Dodge), the venue will now be known as Arizona Federal Theatre.

As for the terms of the agreement, Live Nation Regional Vice President Mike Berndt says the company doesn’t disclose partnership details. “It’s a longterm relationship we’ve entered into and we’re just very excited to be working with them going forward,” Berndt says. The newly renamed theater has presented some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, including David Bowie, Michael Buble, Robert Plant, Stevie Nicks, Janet Jackson, Alice Cooper, Tim McGraw, Ellen DeGeneres, Chelsea Handler, Dave Chappelle, Kevin Hart, Jay-Z, Maluma and Banda MS.

Michelle Obama appeared there on a book tour in 2019.

What’s the company behind Comerica’s new name?

Arizona Federal is a $1.9 billion notfor-profit, local cooperative that provides financial services. Founded in 1936, the credit union offers self-service tools and mobile apps, loans and deposits, home loan solutions, small business services and commercial loans, identity protection services and annual member payouts when the cooperative does well.

It has 16 locations across the Phoenix metro area and recently acquired Pinnacle Bank.

In a press release, Ronald Westad, president/CEO of Arizona Federal Credit Union, said, “We’re excited to add Live Nation to our growing list of partners ...Together, we’re committed to creating a vibrant and active community here in the Valley.”

Why Arizona Federal ‘a perfect fit’

Live Nation’s Berndt says that, because

Andy Peikon, senior vice president of Live Nation venue sales operations, agrees.

“It was clear from the first conversation we had with Arizona Federal Credit Union that they share in our commitment to deliver incredible experiences that bring the Phoenix community together,” Peikon said. “With that in mind, we couldn’t be more pleased to partner with their team and infuse their voice into our powerful assets to help them
