No. 24 Colorado tops California

No. 24 Colorado 71, California 65: Tyler Bey scored a season-high 21 points, McKinley Wright IV had 17 and Colorado made key free throws down the stretch to beat California on Thursday night.

D’Shawn Schwartz added 14 points for Colorado (18-5, 7-3 Pac-12), which won for the fourth time in five games.

Matt Bradley had 17 points to lead Cal (10-12, 4-5) which remained winless away from its home court, dropping to 0-6 on the road and 0-3 on neutral courts this season. Paris Austin added 15 points and Andre Kelly 12 on 6 for 7 shooting for Cal, which lost its fifth straight game to Colorado.

Deadlocked at halftime, the game remained tight thoughout most of the second half. Austin’s 3-pointer with 5:16 remaining pulled the Golden Bears to within two points. But Shane Gatling and Wright connected on 3-pointers around a layup by Bradley as Colorado opened a 58-52 lead with 3:00 remaining.

No. 25 Houston 75, Tulane 62: Caleb Mills had 18 points, Quentin Grimes added 15 and Houston beat Tulane .

Nate Hinton added 12 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for Houston (18-5, 8-2 American). The Cougars bounced back after losing to Cincinnati, 64-62, on Saturday.

Teshaun Hightown had 17 points, K.J. Lawson added 13 points and Nobal Days scored 10 points to lead the Green Wave (10-12, 2-8).

Top 10 women

No. 1 South Carolina 86, No. 25 Arkansas 65: Aliyah Boston had 18 points and 15 rebounds to lead South Carolina past Arkansas.

Boston, a 6-foot-5 freshman, also had seven blocked shots for the Gamecocks in their 16th straight win.

South Carolina (22-1, 10-0 SEC) got a game-high 25 points from Mikiah Herbert Harrigan, who was 11-of-19 from the floor and added five rebounds and five assists.

Zia Cooke added 14 points for the Gamecocks.

No. 7 North Carolina State 71, Virginia Tech 59: Elissa Cunane scored 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead help North Carolina State end Virginia Tech’s 16-game home winning streak.

Cunane, who registered her Atlantic Coast Conference-leading 12th doubledoub­le, made just 4 of 15 from the floor, but connected on 8 of 10 from the freethrow line to lift the Wolfpack (22-1, 11-1 ACC) to their eighth consecutiv­e win

Taja Cole paced the Hokies (16-6, 6-5) with 19 points.

No. 17 Florida State 67, No. 5 Louisville 59: Kiah Gillespie scored 25 points to lead Florida State to an upset over Louisville. Nicki Ekhomu added 18 points, as the Seminoles (19-4, 8-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) ended Louisville’s win streak at 13 games.

No. 8 Mississipp­i State 72, No. 23 Tennessee 55: Rickea Jackson had 14 points and nine rebounds as Mississipp­i State defeated Tennessee for its fifth straight win.

Chloe Bibby scored 13 points and Jordan Danberry and Yemiyah Morris each added 11 for Mississipp­i State. Tennessee played without leading scorer Rennia Davis. School officials said she was recovering from the flu.
