Know the activities that put you at risk

Arizona’s health department released a chart on Thursday that outlines the risk of contractin­g or spreading COVID-19 while doing certain activities.

Gov. Doug Ducey said that “making the best decision possible” about what activities to do will help stop the spread of the virus.

Here’s the breakdown, and whether the activities are restricted in Arizona at this time.

Riskiest behaviors

● Eating at a buffet. (Restaurant­s are not shut down, but dine-in operations are limited to 50% capacity.)

● Working out at an indoor gym or fitness center. (Gyms are shut down.)

● Going to an amusement park. (Water parks are shut down.)

● Going to a casino. (There are no restrictio­ns on casino operations at this time, although some casinos have chosen to shut down.)

● Going to a movie theater. (Movie theaters are shut down.)

● Attending a large music concert. (Public gatherings are capped at 50 people.)

● Going to a sports stadium. (Most major league sports are still on pause.)

● Attending events or services with 50+ people. (Public gatherings are capped at 50 people.)

● Going to a bar. (Bars are shut down.)

Activities with a ‘moderate-high’ risk

● Going to a hair salon or barbershop.

● Eating inside a restaurant. (Restaurant­s are not shut down, but dinein operations are limited to 50% capacity.)

● Attending a wedding or funeral. (Public gatherings are capped at 50 people.)

● Traveling by plane.

● Playing a close-contact sport, such as basketball or football.

Activities with a ‘moderate’ risk

● Dinner party at someone’s house with people who are not your usual close contacts.

● Attending a backyard barbecue.

● Visiting a lake or tubing. (Innertubin­g is shut down.)

● Shopping at a mall.

● Sending kids to school, camp, or daycare. (Schools are on a late opening schedule.)

● Working in an office building.

● Swimming in a public pool. (Public pools are limited to 10 people.)

Activities with a ‘moderate-low’ risk

● Grocery shopping.

Going for a walk, run, hike or bike ride with your household or other usual close contacts.

● Playing golf.

● Hanging out with your #quaranteam at their house.

● Staying at a hotel.

● Sitting in a doctor’s waiting room.

● Going to a library or museum. (Maricopa County libraries, along with some city libraries, are limited to curbside pick-up and drop-off.)

● Eating outside at a restaurant.

● Walking in a busy downtown.

● Spending time at a playground. (Phoenix public park playground­s are shut down, along with public park playground­s in some other cities.)

Activities with a ‘low’ risk

● Opening the mail.

● Teleworkin­g from your own home.

● Getting takeout from a restaurant.

● Pumping gasoline.

● Playing tennis.

● Going camping with your household or other usual close contacts.
