Walter d’Usseaux

-

The family and friends of Walter d’Usseaux are most saddened by his recent passing on May 16,2020.

Pre deceased by his parents, Helen Bertha Wiliewicz and Walter Wiliewicz, he was born on March 22, 1935 in Farmington, New York.

Walter was a graduate of Farmington High School, Farmington,New York.

He received his Engineering Degree from The Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York.

He was a most talented Engineer for Jersey Standard Oil aka Esso which later became EXXON. During this phase of his career he traveled extensively internationally and developed a strong love of travel that stayed with him throughout his life.

He was a true athlete and took some time during his middle years to become an outstanding downhill skier. He moved to Aspen, Colorado and used his talents to work full time with the Aspen Mountain Ski Patrol.

He met Sandy Hammer and decided to move to Phoenix, Arizona which became “home” until his passing. He continued skiing often and also became a scratch golfer. He and Sandy were wed in Phoenix and at that time he re invented himself and started The d’Usseaux Appraisal Group. Using his Engineering skills, he wrote the first computer program in the late 1970’s ,for the Appraisers to come back from the field and fill in their information with “standard comments “that auto filled ..... first of its kind for the era!!

In 1986 TRW Inc. took their first venture into real estate and bought The d’Usseaux Appraisal Group because of Walter’s computer program. It then became TRW Appraisal Group. He continued to work for TRW as a consultant.

Various forms of investing, golf and skiing as well as extensive travel occupied the years following his retirement.

He took Sandy to her roots in Ireland, many European countries, cruises,Hawaii etc. and a highlight ...... driving his RV to most states including a grand exploration of Alaska.

Besides his athletic abilities he had a marvelous baritone voice( he never did learn how to whisper!) During his college years and after, he sang in numerous local productions of Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.

We, as his family and friends will always cherish his singing .... ”We Wish You a Merry Christmas ..... ” and his homemade egg nog during the holidays. He relished the holidays and birthday celebrations and his energy and pure joy during those occasions was a beautiful gift to us all.

During the past few years he so enjoyed his golfing and Elks Club buddies and his very beloved grandchildren who all inherited his happy dimples.

Walter is survived by his wife Sandy, son Greg d’Usseaux, daughter Kim Nielsen and his grandchildren Nathan, Skylar,Jensen and Grace.

“To know him is to love him”

May you Rest In Peace dear Walter.
