Maricopa County already has mailed more than 2 million ballots amid heightened interest in this year’s presidential election and an ongoing pandemic.

The ballots are pouring in to election officials, too.

By Thursday afternoon, the county had already processed about 930,000 ballots.

The first week of voting in Maricopa County saw a 116% increase compared with 2018, and 96% compared with 2016.

Voters can return ballots in the mail, though officials recommend mailing a ballot no later than Oct. 27, to ensure it arrives in time to be counted.

Voters also can return ballots at any polling location or drop box. The county had opened 48 vote centers as of Thursday.

The county also will open drivethru drop boxes Saturday in the parking lots of 14 sports venues around the county and elsewhere, including Tempe Diablo Stadium, Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Goodyear Ballpark and Gilbert Municipal Center.

Voters can find locations by visiting Locations.Maricopa.Vote.
