Cardinals vs. Seahawks game moved to SNF

- Katherine Fitzgerald

Get your popcorn ready, but not too early in the day.

The Cardinals' game against the 5-0 Seahawks has been moved to Sunday night at 5:20 p.m. on NBC.

The NFC West rivals will face each other on Sunday Night Football, after the Buccaneers-Raiders game was shifted following coronavirus concerns.

While the Raiders have not had any new positive cases since Wednesday, the NFL did not want to potentially miss out on a Sunday night match up.

"These decisions were made out of an abundance of caution to ensure that a game would be available for fans on Sunday Night Football," the NFL said in the announcement. "We expect the Buccaneers-Raiders game to be played on Sunday afternoon. Scheduling decisions are made to ensure the health and safety of players, coaches and game day personnel and in consultation with medical experts."

The Cardinals last appeared on Sunday Night Football on October 23, 2016 when they hosted the Seahawks at State Farm Stadium. The game ended in a 6-6 tie, which seems less likely this year, but clearly anything can happen these days.

Fun for vets

While 145 receiving yards in six games could seem like a down year for some, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald certainly doesn’t see it that way.

“It been a great year, fantastic,” Fitzgerald said Thursday. “It is what it is. My kids are healthy, I’m healthy. We’re winning. It’s great. I have a job – that’s something that 35 million Americans can’t say right now. So I’ve privileged and honored to be able to still have something that I can do. And when my number’s called, I’ll answer the bell like I always have.”

And it’s not solely gratitude: the Cardinals seem to be having fun again. When asked about his expiring contract, and if that takes anything away from the joy he finds playing, cornerback Patrick Peterson pushed back.

“You watch the game Monday?” Peterson asked Thursday. “Did I look bored or did I look like I had fun? … I’m playing football, that’s all I’m worried about right now, helping this team win ball games.”
