TWEETS OF THE WEEK
Doug Ducey
I hear @JoeBiden is out there attacking the “Republican governor of Arizona.” I guess he *does* see “red and blue” states after all. But if you’re going after AZ, Joe, get your facts straight

The last time @dougducey briefed the public on covid-19 was Sept 24. Since: He’s traveled to South Carolina, stood by Trump’s side at a potential super spreader event, hosted an event with Betsy DeVos and only took few media questions on two occasions.

This isn’t accurate. Here are the facts: The governor spoke with press on 10/8 and 10/15, taking more than a dozen questions each time. Most focused on the pandemic, but he also discussed schools, the economy, the election, the state budget, judicial appointments and more.

Tragically, no Governor responded to the pandemic more poorly. He shut down the economy, but failed to prepare for a safe re-opening. COVID cases and deaths surged as a result. And he still blocked local officials from taking action until public pressure forced his hand.
THEY SAID IT
“Just look at what happened in Arizona. Republican governor initially tried to bar local governments from implementing mask mandates in their communities. In June, Arizona got hit with a surge of cases. Hospitals were flooded. The state health system was overwhelmed.”
— Joe Biden
Democratic candidate for president
“‘A healthy society cannot exist if its political tribalism invades every aspect of commercial, civic, and community life.’ — Wise words I saw on Twitter today. When everything is political, everything is insufferable, and everything becomes a fight.”
