We have to resist the temptation to keep tearing each other apart

No matter what happens with election, we are still Americans. When did we get to the point where we are not allowed to disagree with each other about the direction of our country? Why is it so personal? Why so many reports of violence and intimidation?

Someone once said that a sure sign of intelligence is a tolerance of opposing points of view. If that is true then our collective IQ must be dropping considerably.

Who cares if someone disagrees with your politics? Just vote the way you want to. My neighbor wants the other guy to win. So what? He’s a great guy and that’s all that matters.

Now that we’ve fought hard, can we return to our better angels?

I believe all of us should step back and ask how we got to the point where some states need to activate the National Guard on an Election Day.

Have we become a Third World country where voting is controlled?

I have always believed that voting by all Americans was our right and what made us a special and unique country. I hope we can get back to being a country that is neither red nor blue but one.

Bob Phillips, Maricopa

You hiked the Canyon rim to rim? Which rim to rim? It matters.

There are two different rim-to-rim hikes, one ending at the South Rim, otherwise known as the easy version, and the other ending at the North Rim, which requires an additional 1,000 foot climb.

Anyone who does the easy version should make that clear. Easy rim to rim is not hard rim to rim. And an honest hiker who takes the easy route is obliged to admit that.
