Sunrise Mountain set to face Desert Edge

- Richard Obert

There are plenty of future college football players to find Friday night in The Arizona Republic's Week 6 high school Game of the Week between Goodyear Desert Edge and Peoria Sunrise Mountain:

Desert Edge Scorpions (5-0)

Steven Ortiz Jr., DB, 6-0, 175, Sr. Committed to Minnesota. He is a lock-down corner who can also play strong safety. He is part of one of the best secondaries in the state. Through five games, quarterbacks have rarely tested his side of the field. That's a huge respect statement towards him. Adryan Lara, QB, 6-1,190, Jr.

He has committed to Washington State. He has been putting up prolific passing numbers since starting on varsity his freshman year. He makes all the throws and will get outside to make plays with his feet.

Gavin Broscious, OL, 6-5, 305, Jr. Has started varsity since his freshman year when he picked up an Arizona State offer.

He has 14 offers, including Arizona, Colorado, Utah, California and Colorado from the Pac-12. Other offers include Michigan State, Minnesota and Nebraska.

Andrew Patterson, WR,

Sr.

Committed to Montana State. Big playmaker who runs 100 meters in 10.7 seconds. Great hands and not afraid to catch the football in traffic.

DHayven Valentine, WR, 5-10, 170, Sr.

Became eligible since transferring from Avondale Westview last week and had five catchers for 84 yards in his season debut against Mesa.

He adds another big playmaker with 10.8 speed in the 100 meters.

He is an exceptional defensive back with a chance to make it at the next level there.

But for the Scorpions he is playing offense.

Chaz Clemons, SS, 6-2, 190, Sr.

Big hitter who has 20 tackles and an

5-10, 170, interception. Could play outside linebacker. Versatile defender with outstanding ball skills.

Jeryll McIntosh, RB, 6-1, 220, Jr. Strong downhill runner who had 279 rushing yards two weeks ago in a rout of Glendale Ironwood. Can catch the ball out of the backfield with good hands.

Sunrise Mountain Mustangs (4-1)

Micah Scott, FS, 6-3, 190, Sr. Might be team's best Division I prospect. Has the length, speed, skills that recruiters look for. Versatile athlete who can play receiver and any of the defensive backs spots.

Steven Hoffman, DB, 6-1, 175, Sr. Talented cornerback/safety who isn't afraid to make a hit. Will be all over the field making plays in the secondary.

Travis Ward, QB, 6-4, 210, Sr.

Has the size and arm to be a Division I talent. Great field vision and IQ. Makes the right reads and knows when and where to deliver the ball.

Tommy Arnold, RB/LB, 5-10, 192, Sr.

Hard runner between the tackles with speed on the outside to make plays.

Tough to stop in the open field. Good hands out of the backfield to make catches. And will line up on defense and make plays with his instincts.

Zeke Marshall, WR, 5-8, 150, Sr. Fast, elusive receiver with many gears. Great open field moves. A top target for Ward.

E.J. Anderson, WR/DB, 6-2, 173, Sr.

Either side of the ball, he can play at the next level. Game changing skills and speed. Big weapon on offense for Ward to go to. Talented kick returner, as well.

Robby Maple, C, 6-2, 250, Sr. Great work ethic. Team leader. Anchors the line. Will go above and beyond to get everybody on the same page.

Julian Esber, RB, 6-0, 200, Sr. Runs hard between the tackles. Great burst. Strong, smart, athletic.
