OF THE MOMENT

- - Nicole Russell, Washington Examiner (on Twitter)

News channels and social media were humming with activity on Election Day. Here are some of the more interesting comments and observations on Nov. 3.

Winning is easy. Losing ain’t.

“I’m not thinking about concession speech or acceptance speech yet. ... Winning is easy. Losing is never easy— not for me, it’s not.”

- Donald Trump, to RNC staff in Arlington, Va.

Who will Biden disappoint?

Noam Blum

@neontaster

If Biden wins, he is going to really disappoint one group of people who stumped for him - it’ll either be the Squad/DemSoc wing, or the entire Bush administration.

Went to Soho to buy a pair of jeans. Every single storefront is boarded up. Totally normal country holding a totally normal election.

Why would you go and buy jeans today, when you can wait a few hours, and step through the broken window to get them free?

Lose the Electoral College

Bree Newsome Bass

@BreeNewsome

Gotta abolish the electoral college. It’s a major reason we’re in this situation where the majority of Americans struggle to be represented and we’re limited in our options. It would change the electoral landscape entirely, allowing a more democratic system & process.

A sweep of postal facilities

NAACP

@NAACP

#BREAKING: In our lawsuit against U.S. Postal Service, court just ordered postal inspectors to sweep facilities in following areas to ensure no ballots are left behind & are delivered on time: AL, South FL, Central PA, Greater SC, Atlanta, Detroit, Houston & Philadelphia, etc.

Media are the punchline

“Nobody can say the media hasn’t done everything in its power to try and destroy Trump. They have made their profession a punchline, and deserve far more contempt than they receive from millions of Americans. As much as anything, we hope to see their dreams crushed.”

- David Reaboi, president of Strategic Improvisation, a communications company (on Twitter)

‘A lot of bad things happen’

“I think we should know what happens on the night... You can’t have these things delayed for many days and maybe weeks. You can’t do that. The whole world is waiting... a lot of bad things happen with ballots.”

- Donald Trump on Election Day (The Hill)

‘Most important election ever’

“My problem with the celebrity gravy train promoting this election as the ‘most important ever’ is that it emphasizes a dependence on govt for happiness and presumes a level of control that is actually not collectively ours.”
