Week 7 Game of the Week: Top prospects

- Richard Obert

They’re both playing well in the transition from 3A to 4A football with both schools featuring top talent that could wind up playing in college.

Here is a look at top players from The Arizona Republic’s Week 7 Game of the Week between Northwest Christian and defending 3A champion American Leadership Queen Creek:

Phoenix Northwest Christian Crusaders (4-1)

Blake Sparks, QB, 6-2, 206, Jr.

Big-time arm and has the size that makes him a Division I college prospect. He has thrown for 800 yards and seven TDs this season in his first year starting.

Levi Huisman, RB/DB, 5-11, 175, Sr.

He moved to offense after there was a need at running back and he has taken off. He is primarily a defensive back who has racked up 114 career tackles. Owen Arthurs, WR, 6-1, 190, Sr.

He has stepped it up every week with clutch catches. He has caught 20 passes on the season for 220 yards and two TDs.

Ben Strawn, OL/DL, 6-3, 230, Sr.

He is being looked at by college on both offense and defense. Strong, big motor, good feet.

Julian Carpenter, LB, 5-11, 195, Sr.

He could play a smaller four-year college. Good instincts, wraps up well on tackles. Great technique. Nick Buehler, WR, 5-8, 160, Sr.

He could play at an NAIA school. Quick, fast, elusive. Has 13 catches for 277 yards and three TDs.

American Leadership-Queen Creek Patriots (5-1)

Micah Ferrin, DE, 6-5, 225, Sr.

Probably their best college prospect. Will fill out more. He has quickness and instincts that set him apart. He has 21 career sacks. Also plays volleyball. Logan Hubler, QB, 6-1, 165, Jr.

First year as a varsity starter but has put up staggering numbers, including 20 TD passes, playing only one half of most games.

Ryan Meza, CB/WR, 6-0, 180, So.

Outstanding two-way player who has 21 catches for 390 yards and five TDs.

Trae Moshier, RB/OLB, 6-0, 205, Sr.

Can play either side of the ball in college. He is averaging nearly nine yards per carry this season with eight rushing touchdowns.

Mitch Jensen, RB/LB, 5-10, 185, So.

He is averaging seven yards per carry and plays middle linebacker on defense. Tough, hard-working player who leads on and off the field.
