PRESCOTT – 02/10/1925 12/10/2020 Donald Earl Mastin passed away peacefully at the age of 95 in Prescott, Arizona on December 10, 2020 after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for several years. Donald was born to John and Mary Alice Mastin in Phoenix on the family farm, the youngest of eight children. He is survived by his loving wife Marjorie of 75 years, son Dick Mastin (Lynn), daughter Linda Walker (Del), grandson’s Darin, Donald, and Jeff, granddaughter Jeannie, six nieces and four nephews. He was proud to serve his country in World War II enlisting in the Coast Guard and serving on the USS Carson City in the South Pacific. Upon his discharge from the Coast Guard he and his brother Robert, established a dairy on the family farm in Phoenix which they operated until the sale of the farm in 1960. At that time Donald’s interest in farm equipment would actually lead to his purchase of an existing custom business which included silage harvest and the baling of alfalfa on small farms. However, with the onset of growth in Phoenix the real estate market was aggressive in pursuing acreage for subdivisions. And, we would see the slow demise of agriculture, as such. In 1973 the family made a permanent move to Chino Valley, Arizona where he would operate a small trucking business; until serious health issues forced him into retirement. In 1978 he was honored as “Farmer of the Year” in Yavapai County. He was a member of the Arizona Farm Bureau Association, Chino Valley Lion’s Club, Chino Valley United Methodist Men, and a volunteer with Future Farmer’s of America. Donald and Marjorie were charter members of the Chino Valley United Methodist Church under the leadership of Robert Remp, Minister. His special joy was spending time hunting and fishing with his son and grandchildren. Donald was interned with Military Honors in Phoenix, Arizona at the Greenwood Memorial Cemetery.
