New mansions dominate priciest local home sales
New mansions and a property with a black-and-white motif featured in the Wall Street Journal can be found in this week’s list of the most expensive home sales in metro Phoenix.
$6,800,000
The McDougal Trust of Arizona, led by the general manager of Earnhardt Toyota John Gray McDougal and his wife, Emily, bought a new house in Paradise Valley. The house, with 7,000 square feet, six bedrooms and six bathrooms, went up last year, where an older home was torn down.
J.M. Wall Development sold the house after buying the property for $1.35 million in 2018. The listing for the home included very little information.

A 6,772-square-foot new house in Paradise Valley’s Invergordon Manor was purchased by an LLC called Casa Blanca Retreat, led by April and Brad Kooiman. The property, part of an 11-home gated neighborhood, has 16-foot ceilings, walls of glass and a two-room guesthouse. The buyers paid cash for the four-bedroom, 41⁄ bathroom modern
2 home.
The home was sold by Koba LLC led by Kevin Olson, which bought the land for $1.38 million in 2019, Christopher Karas of Launch Real Estate had the listing.

A Paradise Valley home, in the same new luxury neighborhood as No. 2 on this week’s list, was purchased by the Delaware LLC Cameldale Residence. The 6,772-square-foot house comes with four bedrooms and 41⁄ bathrooms. The
2 neighborhood is described as having palm-tree lined streets and mature green hedges for privacy. The Arizona
LLC Wilkinson Street Associates, led by John Hogan, sold the property.

A 7,000-square-foot Paradise Valley mansion featured in the Wall Street Journal was purchased by venture capitalist Michael Zappert. The modern home with a black-and-white motif has 17 Murano glass and Swarovski crystal chandeliers. Global consultant Jennifer Zappert and her husband, construction firm owner Mathew Capone, sold the house. It has five bedrooms, 61⁄ bath
2 rooms and a 580-square-foot pool clubhouse.

Jeff Swearingen, co-founder and executive chairman of SecureLink, and his wife, Tricia, bought an 8,743-square foot mansion in north Scottsdale’s Estancia community. The couple from Austin, Texas, paid cash for the house, which is located on the fairway of the community’s golf course. Called the “view house,” it has many walls of glass, a basement wine cellar, five bedrooms and six bathrooms. Martin Gubb of San Diego was the seller.
