Frontier is adding flight from Phoenix to Orlando

- Melissa Yeager

Frontier Airlines is expanding its portfolio at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport again, this time with a new flight to Florida.

The Denver-based ultra low-cost carrier is adding a daily nonstop flight to Orlando International Airport beginning March 11. Tickets are on sale at flyfrontier.com.

Daniel Shurz, vice president of commercial for the airline, said Frontier is excited to add another outdoor destination from the Valley in time for spring break.

“Orlando is a top destination for vacationing families and adventureseeking travelers and these new flights present Phoenix-area flyers with a truly affordable way to get there," Shurz said in a press release from the airline.

To celebrate the launch of the new route, Frontier is offering introductory fares starting at $69 one way.

Keep in mind that the airline "unbundles" fares.

It offers cheap base rates and charges extra for things like seat assignments and baggage, including carry-on luggage. Make sure to figure those costs into your budget before booking.

To grab the sale fare, you must book by Jan. 21 at flyfrontier.com. You'll find

the best fares if you depart on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

The announcement comes as Frontier is poised to launch three new Phoenix nonstops to California.

The airline will add new flights to Oakland on Feb. 5, Ontario on Feb. 11 and Sacramento on Feb. 12.
