Racing fans can drive laps at Phoenix Raceway Falcons name Saints’ Fontenot as general manager
Race fans can register to drive their personal vehicles around the 1-mile track at Phoenix Raceway and support Arizona Accelerator Charities in the process.
For a $25 donation, fans can drive their street-legal, personal passenger vehicles for five paced laps on Feb. 27, two weeks before the raceway hosts its annual March NASCAR weekend.
There are many COVID-related protocols to follow, and many safety rules to follow. Those are available, along with registration information, at PhoenixRaceway.com/TrackLaps.
Arizona Accelerator Charities is a non-profit fund under the NASCAR Foundation whose mission is to accelerate the development of children in Arizona by supporting education, children and families of active military and military veterans, and life enrichment programs for children and families in the community.
ATLANTA – The Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday named Terry Fontenot the team’s first Black general manager, finding new leadership from within their division.
The 40-year-old Fontenot spent 18 seasons with NFC South rival New Orleans.
Fontenot helped build a consistent winner as the Saints’ vice president and assistant general manager in charge of pro personnel. The Falcons fired general manager Thomas Dimitroff and coach Dan Quinn following a 0-5 start this season, which led to a 412 finish, Atlanta’s third consecutive losing season.
The Falcons signed Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith as their head coach on Saturday, a day after agreeing to terms.
