With a little snow having fallen this week and more on the way this weekend, Arizona Snowbowl ski resort near Flagstaff has already sold out all its tickets, rentals and lessons for this Saturday and Sunday.

The resort has been requiring skiers to purchase tickets, rentals and lessons in advance this season as it tries to manage the number of visitors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Snowbowl announced on its website and Twitter account that it was fully booked on Saturday, Jan. 23, and Sunday, Jan 24.

The resort has snowmaking capability and most of the trails that are open so far have been machine groomed. This weekend will mark the first one with significant natural snowfall as the National Weather Service in Flagstaff is predicting storms, especially at elevations above 5,000 feet, through Tuesday.

Snowbowl’s snow report says it expects to receive up to 3 feet of snow over the next week. It currently has 22 of its 48 trails open. The number of trails open will likely rise as more snow moves into the area.

Know that tire chains or four-wheel drive are required on Snowbowl Road once significant snow arrives.

Sunrise Park Resort receives snow, opens trails to the top

Sunrise Park Resort, operated by the White Mountain Apache Tribe in eastern Arizona near Greer, also received new snow over the past week. It opened trails to the top of the mountain and is expecting more snow over the next week.

Sunrise Park Resort also requires skiers to purchase tickets, rentals and lessons in advance. Our messages weren’t immediately returned, but https://sun rise.ski was showing availability early Friday afternoon.
