Flyers 5, DEVILS 3: Nolan Patrick, Joel Farabee and Ivan Provorov scored thirdperiod goals, and the Philadelphia Flyers beat the New Jersey Devils 5-3 Tuesday night for their first road win. James van Riemsdyk scored two power-play goals and Brian Elliott made 23 saves as the Flyers came back to win after blowing an early two-goal lead.
CAPITALS 3, Islanders 2: Justin Schultz scored the go-ahead goal with 26.4 seconds left, Vitek Vanecek made 32 saves and the Washington Capitals beat the New York Islanders 3-2 on Tuesday.
SABRES 3, Rangers 2: Jack Eichel, Dylan Cozens and Tobias Rieder scored for Buffalo, which rallied for a 3-2 win over the Rangers on Tuesday night. Eichel’s power-play goal snapped a 2-all tie and gave Buffalo the lead at 7:31 of the second period.
BRUINS 3, Penguins 2 (OT): Craig Smith scored with 11 seconds left in overtime, and the Bruins recovered after blowing a two-goal lead to beat the Penguins 3-2 on Tuesday. Brad Marchand had a shorthanded goal and assisted on Nick Ritchie’s goal to help the Bruins earn their third straight victory.
Panthers 4, BLUE JACKETS 3 (SO): Patric Hornqvist scored the tying goal with 3 seconds left in regulation and had the game winner in a shootout as the Panthers beat the Blue Jackets 4-3 on Tuesday.
Blackhawks at PREDATORS, late: The Predators averaged 3.1 goals on 33.1 shots per game last season. The Blackhawks scored 208 total goals last season, 33 on power plays and six shorthanded.
Oilers at JETS, late: The Jets averaged 3.0 goals and 5.4 assists per game last season. The Oilers scored 223 total goals last season averaging 3.1 per game. The teams meet for the second game in a row.
Kings 2, WILD 1: Carl Grundstrom and Kurtis MacDermid scored, and Calvin Peterson made 32 saves as the Los Angeles Kings held on to beat the Minnesota Wild 2-1 on Tuesday night.
Red Wings at STARS, late: Goalies for the Stars compiled a .920 save percentage while giving up 2.4 goals on 31.4 shots per game last season. The Red Wings averaged 3.7 penalties and 8.4 penalty minutes per game last season.
Maple Leafs at FLAMES, late: Goalies for the Flames allowed 2.9 goals on 32.3 shots per game last season. The Maple Leafs scored 237 total goals last season while collecting 395 assists. The teams square off for the second straight game.
Sharks at AVALANCHE, late: Goalies for the Avalanche compiled a .913 save percentage while allowing 2.5 goals on 31.2 shots per game last season. Goalies for the Sharks recorded two shutouts last season while compiling an .895 save percentage.
Ducks at COYOTES, late: Goalies for the Coyotes recorded four shutouts last season while compiling a .919 save percentage. The Ducks averaged 2.6 goals on 29.7 shots per game last season.
