Here is The Arizona Republic's All-Arizona boys cross-country team with the 12 Boys Cross-Country Runner of the Year nominees, honorable mentions, and Coach of the Year for the 2020 Arizona Interscholastic Association high school fall sports season. The runner of the year will be announced after the
school year as part of the Republic and azcentral.com Arizona High School Sports Awards.
Barney led Veritas Prep to win the Division IV state team championship and also
had a second place individual finish. Barney won the Western Equinox XC Festival and had four additional top-five finishes at the Chandler Invitational, Seventh Annual Titan Invitational, Phoenix Classic-Showdown at Sundown, and the AIA Division IV sectional state championship qualifier race.
Two-time AllArizona selection who won the Division I State Championship and led Brophy to the its second team state championship. Black defended his Southwest sectional title in the state qualifier and was first place at the Phoenix Classic. He was also the No. 2 Arizona runner at the multi-state Desert Twilight
Festival.
Winner of the Division II state individual title by 10 seconds over the runner-up. His time of 15:06 was the fastest among all four AIA divisions at the state championships, and was a personal record. Carlson had 11 firstplace finishes and never went lower than sixth, which
was at Desert Twilight. He was the Nike Cross Virtual meet's record setter
(14:54).
Jagger Zlothoff, Highland; Elijah Poelman, Highland; Jackson Moran, Brophy Prep; Matthew Hamilton, Red Mountain; John Harris, Salpointe Catholic;
Clayton held third place in the Division I state championship race. His 15:49.4 was the second-best time
of any senior at the Division I state meet. Clayton had three race victories at the Western Equinox, DVUSD meet and
the Division I Northeast sectional.
Two-time AllArizona selection who was the Division II state championship individual title runner-up. He also led Flagstaff to second-place team finish in that race. Davis won the Flagstaff City Meet, sectionals, second at the Phoenix Classic and sixth in the Ray Wherley Invite.
Johnston won the Division IV individual state championship by more than 10 seconds from the remaining runner, where
he staged his personal record 16:03.8. He has top-10 finishes in nine races he competed in, including his highest marks which was fourth in the Titan Invite and Northwest Christian meet and sixth in the Desert
Twilight.
