George Henry Strole

– George Henry Strole passed away peacefully on Nov 27, 2020 at his home in Mesa, AZ. He was 92. George was born Jan 18, 1928, the son of Hamen A. and Grace M. Strole, in Hutsonvill­e, IL. George served in the Navy during WWII. He married Norma Jean Burroughs Oct. 31, 1948. They were married for 57 years until Norma’s death in 2005. George and Norma had two children, Mark and Karen.

George began a career as a bricklayer in 1947 and settled in Denver, CO from 1950 to 1992. In Oct. 1957 he began working for the Denver Fire Dept. He retired as a Captain in May 1982. George joined the Masons in 1973 and was Master of Nevadavill­e, CO Masonic Lodge #4 in 1979. He and Norma were Worthy Matron and Patron in O.E.S. Heritage chapter # 54 in 1980-81. He and Norma spent winters as “snow birds” in FL or AZ until 1998 settling into a home they had built in Mesa AZ. George was President of the Billiards League at two locations; Silverridg­e RV Park from 19861998, and Sunland Village East from 1999-2010. George had a special love with Ms Ila Shinaut from 2006 until her death in 2016.

George was preceded in death by his parents; wife Norma Jean; son Mark; sister Methyl Sanve; brother(s) in law, Chuck Wesley, Harry Rohn and Dean Stephens; sister(s) in law, Virginia Strole, Carolyn Stephens, and Jeanie Strole.

George is survived by his daughter Karen Strole-Klosowski; brothers Roy, Charles (Anna Lou), and Roger Strole; sisters Dorthy (Gene) Bagenstos and Doris Wesley; and many nieces and nephews. Service was held on Dec. 5, 2020 in Hutsonvill­e, IL at Pulliam Funeral Home with military honors. George was laid to rest next to Norma Jean in Hutsonvill­e Cemetery.
