Mary Jane (Ashley) Barnette

SCOTTSDALE – Mary Jane (Ashley) Barnette of Scottsdale (former resident of Overland Park, KS) joined our Father in Heaven on December 10. Preceded in death by her sister, Janet, her brother Mickey, her mother Julia, her father Mark and her son Jeff. She is survived by her daughter Jacquelyn.

Mary Jane’s formative years were spent in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, where she graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1962 and afterwards attended Kansas State University. She worked as a Real Estate Agent for Jay’s Real Estate in Overland Park, KS.

In 1980, she moved to Scottsdale, Arizona with her family. She continued her education and graduated from Scottsdale Community College in 1989 as a Registered Nurse. She worked with many hospitals around the valley in the ER, ICU, CCU, PACU, Telemetry, Med Surg, Dialysis and hospice. Her experiences led her to become the Director of an Assisted Living Facility and a Hospital Supervisor in Lincoln City, OR.

MJ, as she was affectionately known, selflessly cared for others wherever and whenever her skills as an RN were needed. It was MJ’s passion to attend to and comfort her patients during what too often was the most critical time of their life.

She was a provider, a beloved mother and care giver. It was in her soul to help others. Her quick wit and self-deprecating humor is deeply missed by all who knew her.

Rest in peace Mary Jane. It is your turn to be cared for.
