Virginia I. Peacock Dunnahoo

Virginia I. Peacock Dunnahoo was born September 14, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri to Gretchen Goldie Pyles and Howard R. Peacock and was raised by her grandmothe­r, Maude Dickerson Peacock. She passed away in Mesa, Arizona on Friday, February 12, 2021. Virginia was the oldest of five sisters: Doris, Barbara, Shirley, and Vivian who preceded her in death. Her half-brother George Selph also preceded her in death. She is survived by a half-sister Janice McHood, and half-brothers Howard and Ken Peacock.

In August of 1946 Virginia married Tim “Red” Dunnahoo. Tim was the Head Chef of the Green Gables Restaurant located in Phoenix where they made their home and raised their three children. Virginia was a familiar face at La Palma Restaurant where she waitressed for many years. Tim and Virginia were married for 56 years until he passed away in 2002.

Virginia enjoyed collecting vintage glassware, figurines, and antiques. She loved birds of all kinds and always enjoyed the company of her pet dogs and cats. Virginia was a talented seamstress and excelled at crochet and embroidery work.

She is survived by her children; Marilyn Dunnahoo McLeod, (John McLeod), Barbara Dunnahoo Nix, (Robert Nix), Tim M. Dunnahoo, (Janice Johnson Dunnahoo). Grandchild­ren; Michelle McLeod Denny, (Arthur Denny) Robert McLeod, (Emily Burns McLeod), Eric Nix, Stacey Nix Jones, (Andy Jones) Ashley Nix Warfel (Patrick Warfel), Mackenzie Dunnahoo, Clare Dunnahoo, and Kevin Dunnahoo. Great Grandchild­ren; Atticus Denny, Isly Denny, Oriah McLeod, Whitman McLeod, Andrea Jones, Hailey Jones, Lincoln Jones, Nolan Jones, Owen Warfel, Abbey Jane Warfel, and Jackson Nix Warfel.
