Michael Thomas Fries, AIA, 62, passed away unexpected­ly on February 6, 2021. He was born in Norwalk, Ohio, and graduated from Miami University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Environmen­tal Design, and the University Of Texas School Of Architectu­re in 1984 with a Master of Architectu­re.

Michael and his wife Margaret were married in 1983 and moved to Phoenix, Arizona three years later. In 1995, they started FM GROUP INC, an architectu­ral, environmen­tal, and facilities firm that celebrated its 25th anniversar­y in 2020, currently works in 50 states and around the world. In addition to starting his own firm and serving as the president of FM GROUP INC, over the years Michael taught at Arizona State University and The Asbestos Institute. He also volunteere­d for many years with the Rio Salado Architectu­re Foundation including serving on its board.

He loved to travel, especially with his family, and enjoyed sharing stories of their trips over the last couple of years to China, Mexico, Germany, New York City, and riding on a Mardi Gras parade float in New Orleans.

Michael had a remarkable appetite for life, an eye for detail, and a huge heart. One of the legacies he was proudest of was the mentorship and friendship he provided employees, colleagues and co-workers over the years. He is survived by his wife, children, parents, and brother and will be missed by innumerabl­e uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Due to the current pandemic, a socially-distant, masked, visitation window with the family will occur on February 27th from 10am-12pm at Phoenix Memorial Park Cemetery.

SCOTTSDALE – Dana Marie George (72) of Scottsdale and Flagstaff, AZ joined our Father in Heaven and those who preceded her in death on the morning of February 4, 2021.

She passed away with her three sons Kent, Scott and Matt at her side in the Sherman House, Hospice of the Valley. Dana was born in West Bend, WI to Alfred and Marion Haen. She frequently referenced with much fondness, the many adventures she shared with her brothers Tom and John, and sisters Marlene, Chris and Anne. Dana was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Steven Point. Upon being graduated, Dana relocated from Milwaukee, WI to Phoenix, AZ with her former husband Brian Wilson, DDS.

Dana’s passion to serve others was ingrained in her persona. Besides raising her three sons, she served in a leadership role on the Building Committee of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, on the Board of Directors of both Glendale High School and John C. Lincoln Hospital; as well as Director of Community and Schools, a not for profit organizati­on helping inner city children achieve educationa­l success.

Dana fully lived her life through her faith, family and friends and embraced the motto “I trust in Jesus”. Dana is preceded in death by her husband of 20 years Gerald George, PhD, her parents and brother Tom (Diane). She is survived by her three beloved sons Kent (Jenni) Wilson, Scott (Mandy) Wilson, Matt (Allison), seven grandchild­ren and two great-grandchild­ren; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am, Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church (please watch via live-stream at: http://bit.ly/stphxyt), 5045 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ, 85018, with internment at Hansen Desert Hills Cemetery, 6500 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale, AZ, 85254. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Dana’s favorite charities, Sherman Home, Hospice of the Valley, 5801 East Mayo Boulevard, Phoenix, AZ, 85084.
