GCU baseball impressive to open season

Grand Canyon's baseball team outpitched, outhit and outfielded a strong SEC team, Missouri, to take three out of four games to open the 2021 season at Brazell Stadium last weekend. The Lopes now get ready for a four-game home stand starting Thursday against the Pac-12’s Oregon State. Zach Barnes, named the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, will get the ball to start that series. He gave up two hits and struck out 10 and did not allow a run to open the season with an 11-3 win over Missouri. The Lopes averaged nine runs a game in the series with freshman outfielder Ryland Zaborowski of Basha leading the attack with a total of nine hits.
