Capitals 4, SABRES 3: Justin Schultz had a goal and two assists, and the Capitals beat the Sabres. Washington star Alex Ovechkin scored his 21st goal of the season and No. 727 for his career, moving within four of Marcel Dionne for fifth on the NHL list. Brenden Dillon and Jakub Vrana also scored in a game the Capitals never trailed.
Penguins 6, DEVILS 4: Bryan Rust scored two goals and Sidney Crosby had a goal and two assists in leading the streaking Penguins to a victory over the Devils. Jared McCann, Brian Dumoulin and Colton Sceviour also scored as the bangedup Penguins won for the eighth time in 11 games (8-2-1). Miles Wood scored two goals for the Devils.
Rangers 4, ISLANDERS 1: Alexandar Georgiev made 31 saves in his first start since March 19, Alexis Lafreniere and Colin Blackwell scored in the second period, and Rangers beat the Islanders. Mika Zibanejad and K’Andre Miller also scored and Artemi Panarin had two as
sists for the Rangers.
BLUES 9, Wild 1: Jaden Schwartz and Ryan O’Reilly each scored twice as the Blues beat the Wild. Justin Faulk and Sammy Blais each had a goal and two assists, and Zach Sanford, Jake Walman and Ivan Barbashev also scored for St. Louis.
Avalanche at DUCKS (late): The Avalanche reacquired Patrik Nemeth, trading a fourth-round pick to the Red Wings for the defenseman. The teams announced the deal Friday night. Nemeth spent two seasons in Colorado (2017-19) and was a big presence in front of the net.
Coyotes at GOLDEN KNIGHTS (late):
The Kings scored three unanswered goals in the third period to defeat the Coyotes on Wednesday.
Kings at SHARKS (late): The Kings are 12th in the NHL on the power play (22.1%). In their last meeting on April 3, San Jose won 3-2.
