-

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Sally “Jo “Luyckx, 81, on Sunday, April 4, 2021, at Eckstein Hospice in Scottsdale Arizona.

Jo was born on September 28, 1939 in Detroit Michigan to Sally and John Dunleavy. She was the second of four children and is survived by her sister Patricia (Ed) Goren, her two children Mary Beth Luyckx and Patricia (Marshall) Krotenberg.

Jo had an impressive 30 year career in the Insurance business that earned her many awards including 3 times “Spike of the Year” from the Builders Association. The best part of her job was getting to know her clients who she would consider friends. After retirement she was able to become a “Snow Bird” which allowed her to spend the winter months in Arizona.

Jo was a great cook and loved having dinner parties that brought family and friends together. It was not unusual that the after-dinner drinks would fuel some great conversations that would last into the wee hours of the morning.

In the spirit of getting people together, Jo enjoyed playing games of all sorts. Cards of any kind,“Shut the Box”, Scrabble and of course golf to name a few! She participated in several golf leagues and became a member of the coveted Hole in One club. She enjoyed traveling, particularly on a ship, and if someone said casino – she was there!!

In addition to many wonderful friends and family members, Jo was also blessed with her grandchildren Eric and Hailey Krotenberg, and nieces and nephews; Sean O’Brien, Patrick (Donna) O’Brien, Danny (Jiji) O’Brien, Katie (Chris) Habucke, Sheila (Mike) Zuieback, Sean Dunleavy (dec), Ryan Dunleavy, Ed (Meg) Luyckx, Zoe (Gary) Hull, Liz (Gary) Goode, Connie (Mark) McNash, Stephen (Natalie)Luyckx, Kristyn (Brad) Quick, Peter Luyckx, Jimmy Luyckx, Ann Ottenhof, Helen Darling, Michael Luyckx, Cheryl (Tom) Kuhn, Linda (Steve) Keller, Kathleen Uhl, Kevin Uhl, Gretchen (Kevin) Goulet, Nancy Curtis, Rick Uhl (dec) and Paul Uhl (dec).
