Hank, 11, is ready to settle down again
Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.

Hank
At 11 years young, this handsome pup has definitely seen his fair share of good days and bad. For adorable Hank, the American pit bull terrier mix, he unfortunately had one of his worst days earlier this year when his owner passed away and he had nowhere else to turn to but the Arizona Humane Society. Having been in the care of AHS since February, this sweet boy is patiently waiting for his turn to find a chance at a happy life full of love and care in a home to call his own again.
While at AHS, Hank has undergone some medical care to help keep him the happy and healthy pup that he is. He had a mass removed, a dental procedure to get his chompers in a good state and treatment for arthritis. However, despite all that he has been through — this adorable senior still has a swag all his own and a tail wag to greet his friends.
Hank has proven to be one of the goodest boys who is as calm and gentle as they come. In search of a comfy bed with a loving human to give him as many pets as he desires, Hank has quietly stolen the hearts of AHS staff and knows there is someone who will fall in love with his salt and pepper face soon. Having lived with other pups before, it is recommended he meets the whole family to ensure a good fit with his relaxed lifestyle.
How to adopt: The Arizona Humane Society’s adoption locations remain closed as the shelter continues to heal and rehabilitate pets coming in but its Virtual Matchmaking Adoptions by appointment is available to place pets with their forever families.
