BRUINS 6, Sabres 2:

Craig Smith scored three goals to help Boston complete its season-series dominance over Buffalo. With its ninth victory in 11 games, Boston slipped into third place in the NHL East. Nick Ritchie added a goal and an assist, and Sean Kuraly and Patrice Bergeron also had a goal for Boston. David Krejci had three assists – all on Smith’s goals.

RED WINGS 1, Lightning 0 (SO):

Sam Gagner scored to end an eight-round shootout and Thomas Greiss stopped 33 shots, lifting the Red Wings to a win over the Lightning. The defending Stanley Cup champion Lightning were in control all afternoon, but it didn’t show up on the scoreboard in regulation or overtime.

HURRICANES 2, Blue Jackets 1 (OT):

Dougie Hamilton scored on a breakaway with 52.1 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Hurricanes to a victory against the Blue Jackets. Goalie Alex Nedeljkovi­c picked up the assist on the winning play as the Hurricanes extended their points streak to 10 games.

CANADIENS 3, Senators 2 (OT):

Cole Caufield’s first career goal was the gamewinner in overtime.

ISLANDERS 3, Rangers 0:

Anthony Beauvillie­r scored twice and Semyon Varlamov stopped 28 shots for his league-leading seventh shutout of the season as the Islanders clinched a playoff spot for the third straight year. Mathew Barzal added a breakaway goal and Josh Bailey had three assists for the Islanders.

Devils 4, FLYERS 1:

Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 30 shots as the Devils beat the Flyers for their third straight win. Jesper Bratt, Janne Kuokkanen, Nico Hischier and Yegor Sharangovi­ch all scored for the Devils, who had lost 10 straight games before this recent stretch.

MAPLE LEAFS 5, Canucks 1:

Auston Matthews had a pair of goals for the Maple Leafs, bringing his season total to 38.

Penguins 3, CAPITALS 0: Bryan Rust scored two unassisted goals, Tristan

Jarry made 23 saves and the Penguins shut out the Capitals to reclaim first place in the East Division. Trade deadline pickup Jeff Carter also scored his fourth goal in 10 games in a Penguins uniform.

Panthers 5, BLACKHAWKS 4: Anthony Duclair had two goals and an assist and the Panthers beat the Blackhawks for their third straight win. Aleksander Barvok scored his team-leading 25th goal and had an assist. Nikita Gusev and Owen Tippett also scored for Florida.

AVALANCHE 4, Sharks 3: Nathan MacKinnon bounced back from a rare scoreless night with a goal and an assist to lead the Avalanche to a win over the Sharks. MacKinnon had his 15-game points streak ended Friday and failed to get a shot on goal for the first time in 264 games.

PREDATORS 1, Stars 0 (OT): Erik Haula scored at 3:32 of overtime to give the Predators a 1-0 victory over the Stars. Juuse Saros made 28 saves for Nashville, winners of three of four. Anton Khudobin made 33 saves for Dallas. With the win, Nashville takes a three point lead in the race for the fourth and final Central Division playoff berth.

WILD 4, Blues 3 (OT): Kevin Fiala scored 2:16 into overtime and the Wild rallied to beat the Blues. Nico Strum and Jonas Brodin scored late in the third period to force overtime for Minnesota, which won for the first time in three games. Mats Zuccarello had a goal and an assist. Jordan Kyrou, Sammy Blais and David Perron scored for St. Louis.

Golden Knights at COYOTES (late):

The Coyotes ended the Golden Knights’ 10game winning streak while keeping their playoff hopes alive with a 3-0 win Friday.

Kings at DUCKS (late) : Anaheim hosts Los Angeles looking to end its nine-game home slide. Anze Kopitar scored with 55.1 seconds remaining and the Kings rallied for a 2-1 win over the Ducks on Friday.

Flames at OILERS (late): Calgary visits Edmonton after Elias Lindholm scored two goals in the Flames’ 3-1 win over the Oilers on Thursday.
