– With much sadness and adoration, the family of Joseph (Joe) S. Canty (Anthem, AZ) share his recent passing on April 24, 2021. Born January 2, 1942, in inner city Harlem, NY to Joseph and Mary Canty, Joe was the eldest of six children: Richard (deceased), Winslow, Edward, Louise (nee Leslie) and Jane (nee Giles), Joe worked hard all his life and was always dedicated to his family. He attended P.S 10, Cooper Middle School, Commerce High School, and received his BA in Marketing. He started his career working in the mailroom at Look Magazine, climbing the ladder of success to the marketing department, moving on to McGraw Hill, and numerous television stations on the east coast, eventually moving out west in 1989 first as the General Sales Manger at KTTU-TV in Tucson. In 1991, he and his wife, Carol. moved to Phoenix where he served as National, and later Local, Sales Manager at KTVK, 3-TV. Joe retired in 2005 and, several years later, started a national TV support business with his wife, which they sold in 2011. Joe enjoyed gardening, golf, jazz, exercising – he even ran the New York City Marathon with his best friend, Billy Nowell (Lafayette, CO). He is survived by his beloved wife of close to 58 years, Carol-Ann Canty, son Greg (Colorado Springs, CO), daughter Jeanine (Boulder, CO), four grandchild­ren: Dallas, Chalen, Jared, and Luke, a host of nephews and nieces, and his beloved sisters and brothers. They will remember his constant sense of humor, positive attitude, endless energy, and sincere kindness and caring always.
