Capitals 4, RANGERS 2: T.J. Oshie had a hat trick, Vitek Vanecek made 19 saves and the Capitals beat the depleted Rangers in a fight-filled game. The dismal loss – New York’s fourth straight – came in their home finale and on the same day the organizati­on stunningly fired President John Davidson and General Manager Jeff Gorton.

SENATORS 5, Canadiens 1: Erik Brannstrom had three assists for his first career multi-point game, Shane Pinto scored his first NHL goal and the Senators stalled Montreal’s playoff charge. The Canadiens entered the game looking for their first four-game winning streak of the season.

LIGHTNING 6, Stars 2: Defenseman Erik Cernak had a goal and two assists to help the Lightning beat the Stars. Defending champion Tampa Bay has won six of the seven meetings this season between the 2020 Stanley Cup finalists.

BLUE JACKETS 4, Predators 2: Mikhail Grigorenko scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and lifted the Blue Jackets to a comeback victory over Nashville, preventing the Predators from clinching a playoff spot.

Ducks 3, BLUES 2 (SO):

Haydn Fleury scored the shootout winner after also connecting in regulation in the Ducks’ victory over the Blues.

Golden Knights 3, WILD 2 (OT):

Alex Pietrangel­o scored at 1:53 of overtime, giving the Golden Knights a victory after another late rally by the Wild. The Golden Knights won for the first time in four games at Minnesota this season.

Jets at FLAMES (late): Mark Scheifele leads the Jets with 55 points on the season.

Avalanche at SHARKS (late): Avalanche overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period to defeat the Sharks on Monday.

Kings at COYOTES (late): Coyotes signed free agent goaltender Karel Vejmelka to a one-year contract for the 2021-22 season.
