BRUINS 4, Rangers 0 : Patrice Bergeron scored in his fourth straight game, and Jeremy Swayman needed to stop only 15 shots for his second career shutout to lift Boston. Jake DeBrusk, Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo also scored and Brad Marchand and David Krejci had two assists apiece to help the Bruins win for the fifth time in six games.

Devils 2, ISLANDERS 1 :

Michael McLeod scored the tiebreakin­g goal late in the second period, Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 32 shots and the Devils beat the playoff-bound Islanders for their fifth win in six games. Pavel Zacha also scored for the Devils, who beat the Islanders for just the second time in seven meetings this season.

PENGUINS 8, Sabres 4 :

Jeff Carter scored a career-high four goals and Pittsburgh moved back into first place in the crowded East Division. The 36-year-old Carter, acquired from Los Angeles at the trade deadline, beat Michael Houser three times in the game’s first 25 minutes for his first hat trick since March 28, 2018. He added his fourth with a pretty backhand early in the third period

MAPLE LEAFS 5, Canadiens 2: Auston Matthews scored his NHL-leading 40th goal of the season for Toronto. Mitch Marner and John Tavares each had a goal and an assist, Alex Galchenyuk and Pierre Engvall also scored and Jack Campbell made 20 saves. Campbell improved to 16-2-2, giving him the most wins by a Toronto goalie through 20 games.

Blackhawks 2, HURRICANES 1 :

Alex DeBrincat beat Petr Mrazek at 2:02 of overtime to help the Blackhawks rally past the NHL-leading Hurricanes, salvaging the final game of a three-game set. Collin Delia had 36 saves for the Blackhawks, who were eliminated from postseason contention Monday to start the series.

Canucks at OILERS, late : Leon Draisaitl scored twice and Darnell Nurse had a goal and an assist, leading the Edmonton Oilers to a 4-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night. Evan Bouchard also scored for Edmonton, which improved to 10-3-1 in its last 14 games dating to April 2. Connor McDavid had two assists.
