-

Conrad Ostberg Stone, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2021 after a brief illness. Connie was born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania on April 28, 1930 to Conrad August Stone and Florence Jeanette Ostberg. He was always tremendously proud of his Swedish heritage on both sides. The family moved to Columbus Ohio in 1942, and Connie attended Bexley High School, where he was captain of the football and baseball teams while also earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He went on to attend Ohio State University, where he pledged Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and graduated in 1952 with a degree in Business Administration/Accounting and a lifelong passion for Buckeye football. He also served in the Ohio Air National Guard for six years. He married the former Marilyn Ann Given in September 1961, and they recently celebrated 60 happy years of marriage. They raised their three children in Upper Arlington Ohio, where Connie worked for Edwards Companies and served as treasurer of the Upper Arlington Rotary Club. The family were active members of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church and Connie also served as church treasurer. In 1989 Connie accepted an offer from son Jeff to become CFO of Summit Builders, so he and Marilyn moved to Scottsdale Arizona, where he resided until his death. In Scottsdale, Connie was also active in Rotary, in the Ohio State Alumni Club of Phoenix (both of which he served as treasurer), and as a member of La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church. In addition to being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Connie enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including golf, cooking and travel.

Conrad was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Patricia Stone Jenkins. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Stone, children Kim Haltiwanger (Bob), Michael Stone (Laura), Jeffrey Stone (Lisa), seven grandchildren, Matthew Stone (Steed Cone), Joshua Stone (Jordan), Emily Stone (Dave McCary), Spencer Stone, Robby Haltiwanger (Liz Casper), Rachel Haltiwanger Asres (Josh Asres), and Nathan Haltiwanger, 5 great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
